In this video, Dr. Justin Marchegiani and Evan Brand tackle the link between a leaky gut and autoimmunity. It's important to know that gut health, gut infections, and autoimmunity is all connected. Most conventional practitioners don't know how to handle the connection between autoimmunity and leaky gut. Few people realize that leaky gut is actually one of the primary mechanisms of autoimmunity when it begins. Why is it called a leaky gut? When the cells in your gut (also known as the tight junctions) start to "unzip" and become loose, undigested particles can get within the gaps. This catalyzes a series of reactions called molecular mimicry. Basically, surface proteins in the undigested food are very similar to the surface proteins found in the thyroid and the beta cells in our pancreas. How does this link to autoimmunity? When the reactions occur, our immune system starts to attack soft tissues with similar surface proteins as the undigested food that has "leaked" through your gut. Moreover, gut bacteria can also cause diverse health issues when they pass through the gaps of your intestines. If you're suffering from Hashimoto's disease, it's very likely that you had a leaky gut. That's because leaky gut has to take place before Hashimoto's begins to happen.

Learn how to treat and prevent leaky gut from occurring, find out the best natural treatments for autoimmunity, and start making your way towards a healthier you. Watch this video for more information!
